For an outside there needs an inside, so that spaces can be separated from each other. Through a physical outside and a society as an outside, an inside manifests itself, which is independent and yet nowhere can separate itself from its creator. (Sascha 2010)

Sascha, Mael and Sigmond were assigned to the female gender at birth, but neither identifies as female, but neither identifies as male, thus "non-binary". 
They seek an in-between and an outside. They play with identity and attribution, with symbol and provocation, and question traditional gender roles. The possibilities of denial, the pressure to be intelligible and the right to opacity. In this long-term project I accompany different Non Binary people for a time in everyday life, at home, in the studio and in different life situations. This series started with a long term accompaniment of Sascha and continued for one year (2022) of the "transformation" of Mael. I plan to portray more non binary people over a longer period of time and hope to give them a stage for normality and recognition in society. Sascha writes texts about Saschas own experiences in everyday life. Thus, we have published parts of the series as a column in the Republik and in Bajour Magazine.
