Critique of Judgement or the Subject Matter of Aesthetics
"The term "landscape" is a relatively recent invention. To praise its beauty is an even younger peculiarity. It penetrates only in the 19th century with the emergence of tourism, especially in the Swiss Alps. Our admiration for landscape thus runs parallel to industrialization. With the devastation of the landscape through wars and ecological catastrophes it experiences with humans, in their search for the lost paradise, even greater importance and popularity. Against the backdrop of the collective pandemic, we realize how valuable sensual experiences are in the collective process of reception, especially when viewing becomes the projection surface of a longing"
