Rimini/ Italy 2022
And when you look closly
The continuation of my photographic research on the tourist east coast of Italy, about the causes, effects and consequences of climate change. Rimini was in the 50s the beginning of mass tourism on the European Adriatic coast. Until today one bagno follows the other. One third of all Italian beaches, which are about 3500 kilometers long, are in the hands of private bagninos. What will happen to them and the tourists when the rain gets heavier, the water rises and there is no more fresh fish from the sea. What should do all these people who live from the business " beach vacation".

LESS SEE
Now we are dozing again on the beach and listen to the gentle
sound of the waves. But what for many means pure relaxation
for many, is subject to enormous stress factors: The
Mediterranean Sea is suffering, not only from the climate crisis,
but also from tourism and its consequences
- among us.

On the beach
Inspired by a radio report about the consequences of global warming and erosion on the coasts, I traveled to Mallorca with the assignment for greenpeace magazine 2022 to photograph the causes, effects and consequences of this change. Following the footsteps of this reportage, I decided to continue this theme in other places, photographing and filming. This long-term project "and when you look closley" is evolving into a poetic/personal and at the same time documentary inventory of coastal regions.

We've had enough!
In a cooperative exhibition with Amnesty International at KOSMOS Zurich for International Women's Day 2022, people affected by sexualized violence tell their stories. The exhibition was conceived in collaboration with journalist Alea Rentenmeister, photographer Anne Gabriel-Jürgens and graphic artists Brigitte Lampert and Katharina Hofer. The focus is not on the acts of violence, but on what happens afterwards: How do victims find their way back to their own sexual self-determination and sexuality after a rape?

We've had enough!
Those affected by sexualized violence break with myths, taboos and stigmas. Was Anna Göldi a victim of sexualized violence? Even if there is no direct evidence in the Göldi case to date, sexualized assaults on women occurred frequently in connection with the persecution of witches. The posters created on the theme of sexualized violence were exhibited for half a year in the Ana Gölte Museum in cooperation with Amnesty International, Brigitte Lampert, Katrin Hofer, Alea Rentmeister.

"For the second edition of the near. prize, the Jury has decided to award a special mention to the work Zoe. They were deeply touched by this long-lasting work, which documents a complex encounter that is not at all like a fairy tale: the one between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. Anne Gabriel-Jurgens questions with great intelligence and an extremely fine and mastered aesthetic the passage from childhood to adolescence, but also raises the question of appropriation, and the families we choose for ourselves. The result is a deeply enchanting and very personal work."
