The Russian district in Brighton Beach, 
a 40 minutes subway ride from Manhattan, 
on the southwest shore line of Brooklyn. Today, more than 159.000 residents of brighten Beach, 
whose native language is mainly Russian,
are counted as the largest Russian community
in the United States. Most of the immigrants arrived in the 1940`s and 50`s
and were primarily Jews from Odessa, Ukraine, 
therefore Brighton Beach is very well known as 
„Little Odessa“.
