Women's suffrage was first introduced in parts of Switzerland in 1971 by popular vote.
The canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden even recognized women's right to vote only 20 years later.
Switzerland was thus one of the last European countries to grant full civil rights to its female population. We are still fighting for equal rights in work and family life and for the right to self-determination.
So, Thousands of women demonstrated every year at the 14.06 peacefully together in Switzerland to celebrated feminism.
